While all relationships are complex and at times difficult, there are complexities that are unique to LGBTQ couples. Firstly, there are individual issues of feeling accepted by others, whether it be acceptance of families or wider society. For some, they have not yet ‘come out’, and their relationship is secret. For others, they are feeling isolated and trying to work out who they are as individuals.
It is important to find a community where you can belong; to feel a sense of self-worth; to live and to work surrounded people who treat you with respect and care. Sometimes you can feel alone, and this is where counselling can help restore a sense of your worth and encourage a way forward. If you think you might benefit from counselling, why not schedule a free counselling session with no obligation here (for first-time clients).
